Couples and relationship counselling
Couples Counselling in Somerville
A calm, structured space for partners who want to understand repeated conflict, communicate more safely and rebuild connection.
When counselling may help
You do not have to wait until the relationship is in crisis
Couples counselling can help when the same arguments keep returning, conversations quickly become defensive, affection has faded or one or both partners feel alone in the relationship. It can also support couples facing parenting pressure, major decisions, separation uncertainty or changes in intimacy.
Seeking support does not mean a relationship has failed. It can be a deliberate step toward understanding what is happening underneath the conflict and deciding together what the relationship needs.
Communication and repair
Move from blame toward understanding the pattern
The aim is not to decide who is right. Sessions help both partners identify the cycle they become caught in, recognise the needs and fears beneath their reactions, and practise clearer ways of listening and responding.
Where trust has been damaged, counselling can provide a careful process for discussing the impact, establishing boundaries and exploring whether repair is possible. Progress is built through honest conversation, accountability and small, repeatable changes.
Your first session
What to expect when you attend together
The first appointment gives each partner time to explain what has brought them to counselling and what they hope will change. Andrew will outline confidentiality, ask about the history and strengths of the relationship, and help identify a shared focus.
Couples sessions are 50 minutes and cost $150. Appointments are available in Somerville or online for couples across the Mornington Peninsula.
